Further Details about Filing Patent Applications and Patent Costs
Tax and currency fluctuation:
All costs are at current rates and exclude VAT — European and International applications official fees are subject to currency fluctuation, and rates prevailing on filing will be applied.
Basis of charge calculations:
The charge for the preparation of a specification is for a typical specification of average length and complexity, and costs could be higher for longer and /or more complex cases. In each case, for each type of application, further costs will be incurred during prosecution of the patent application, for example, in responding to examination reports.
Costs of Foreign Applications:
The costs above do not include the filing of any other applications, such as official fees for foreign applications outside Europe.
International (PCT) applications - deadlines
An International (PCT) application does not result in an International patent, but individual applications in countries/regions of interest must be filed within 2.5 years of the original filing date.
When we have filed an application for you, we will continue to monitor the application on our records system and report any official correspondence.
We will monitor any deadlines to ensure that these are responded to in a timely fashion.
Following registration or grant, we continue to act as your agents and address for service and take responsibility for renewals so that you can relax, knowing that your intellectual property is being maintained professionally and cost effectively.
Clearly, this is not a full schedule of our costs, but it will give you an idea of at least the initial costs involved in applying for a patent.
